Tour Description

Day 1: Uros Islands and Amantani Island

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in the city of Puno. From there, our transportation will escort you to Puno's port where the professional kayak team awaits, marking the start of your 2-day journey on the stunning Lake Titicaca.

Perched at an altitude of 3,800 meters, Lake Titicaca holds the distinction of being the world's highest navigable lake. The kayaking experience spans approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, during which you'll be captivated by the beauty of the Puno bay and the diverse flora and fauna surrounding it.

Your first stop is the floating island of Uros, a series of handcrafted artificial islands set in the high Andes. Home to the indigenous Uro people, these islands have been ingeniously constructed and inhabited for centuries.

Made chiefly from totora, an aquatic plant that flourishes in the lake, these islands, along with houses, boats, and daily life artifacts, are crafted by the Uros.

Following your exploration of the Uros Islands, a regular boat will take you to Amantani Island. Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed into your assigned host family house for an overnight stay. Enjoy a traditional Andean meal featuring quinoa soup and lake fish, complemented by soothing coca tea.

Amantani is celebrated as a favored spot for travelers eager to immerse themselves in local culture. The island's inhabitants are primarily of indigenous Quechua heritage, maintaining a rich tapestry of ancestral customs.

The island offers a splendid panoramic view of Lake Titicaca and the encircling mountains, presenting a serene and picturesque environment for exploration. One must-visit location is Pachatata, a hilltop viewpoint that provides breathtaking vistas of the lake and its surroundings.

As night falls, enjoy dinner followed by a vibrant local celebration organized by the community.

Day 2: Taquile Island and Return to Puno

Kick off your day with an early morning breakfast before setting off to Taquile Island by regular boat. Enjoy the hour-long journey across the magnificent Lake Titicaca.

On reaching the island, stroll to the quaint and charming main square. Here, you have the option to visit the local museum or browse the delightful textile shops.

Taquile Island is celebrated for its rich cultural legacy and breathtaking landscapes. The indigenous community has preserved its ancestral traditions and sustainable lifestyles. The Taquile people are famous for their skill in crafting exquisite textiles, regarded as a vital part of their heritage.

The locals are expert weavers, creating textiles by hand using time-honored techniques. These textiles serve as artistic and cultural expressions, displaying patterns and colors that reflect the Andean cosmovision and community history. Each piece narrates a story and signifies the social status, gender, and identity of the wearer.

Savor a meal at a local restaurant before boarding the regular boat back to the Puno port. Our transportation will then return you to your hotel.
