Tour Description
We will set off from your hotel in the city of Puno and head to the starting point on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Before we begin our adventure, we will don life jackets and board the kayaks safely.
We will paddle across the vast lake, taking in the magnificent flora and fauna that surround us. This region, within the Titicaca National Reserve, is home to a variety of birds, including wild ducks, herons, and flamingos. Additionally, there are species of frogs and fish that serve as daily sustenance.
Lake Titicaca sits at an altitude of 3,812 meters above sea level, making it the second-largest lake in South America.
The kayak tour on Lake Titicaca continues as we pass near the rocky Isla Foroba, ultimately reaching the famous Uros floating islands. Here, we will explore these remarkable totora reed islands and discover the customs and lifestyle of the community.
The Uros people are an ancient community engaged in fishing, farming, and tourism throughout the year. Their islands are constructed from totora reeds. While the inhabitants speak Spanish, their official language is Aymara.
Following this incredible experience, you have the option to take a motorboat to the Island of Taquile. This journey offers breathtaking views of Amantani Island, the largest island on the Peruvian side.
Upon arrival, the Taquile people will greet us warmly, and you will gain insight into their way of life and admire their remarkable textile arts, recognized as a cultural heritage. The community continues to use traditional weaving techniques and natural dyes from vegetables.
Delight in a traditional meal with a local family. At the conclusion of this unique experience, you will return by boat to the starting point and be transported back to your hotel in the city of Puno.
