Tour Description

We will collect you from your hotel to embark on the northern route through the Callejón de Huayhuash, passing by quaint Andean villages and taking in the stunning snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca.

Upon reaching the town of Yungay, we will proceed northeast towards the Valley of Llanganuco. Once registered for entry into the Huascarán National Park, we will journey past the breathtaking Chinancocha and Orconcocha lakes, arriving at Cebolla Pampa (3,900 meters above sea level), where our hike begins.

Established as a protected natural area in 1975, the Huascarán National Park is recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve. The national service responsible for protected natural areas manages this expansive park, which covers a total of 3,400 square kilometers.

We will hike through a flat area for approximately one hour, relishing the breathtaking vistas of the Huascarán Mountain, the tallest peak in the White Mountain Range. Our path ascends via switchbacks until we reach a small lake, offering views of the glacial peaks of Chacraraju, Yanapaccha, Huascarán, Chopicalqui, and the valley's cascading waterfalls.

The Cordillera Blanca lines the eastern side of the Callejón de Huaylas, while the Cordillera Negra stands to the west. Spanning 150 kilometers, the Callejón de Huaylas is traversed by the Santa River flowing through its valley.

Ultimately, we will reach Lake 69, situated at 4,600 meters above sea level. Here, you will have ample time to capture photographs, soak in the spectacular scenery, and marvel at the crystal-clear turquoise waters of this natural wonder.

We will then commence our descent along the same trail, returning to Cebolla Pampa, where transportation will be waiting to take you back to the city of Huaraz.
