The Pastoruri Glacier tour is a unique adventure, being one of the most accessible snow-capped peaks to visit, situated at an elevation of 17,192 feet.
Often referred to as the “route of climate change,” this journey invites you to discover the renowned glacier in Huaraz. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to see the Puya Raimondi, a remarkable plant that thrives exclusively in the high altitudes of the Andes.
Descripción del Tour
We will collect you from your hotel or designated meeting point in Huaraz, and embark on a 2-hour journey southward to the parking area of the Pastoruri Glacier, situated within the Huascarán National Park, recognized as a World Natural Heritage site since 1985.
From this location, we will commence a 1-hour trek to the closest point of the glacier. Our expert guide will provide insights into how climate change has significantly impacted this area, leading to the gradual retreat of this renowned glacier, with the aim of raising awareness about this critical issue.
Previously, this site was a skiing destination; however, such activities are now prohibited to protect the glacier.
After enjoying our time at Pastoruri, taking photos and soaking in the stunning scenery, we will return to our transport to head to the Valley of Carpa, home to the Puyas Raimondi. These remarkable plants, belonging to the bromeliad family, can grow up to 39 feet tall and have a lifespan of up to 100 years.
Finally, we will make our way back to the meeting point in Huaraz to drop you off.
