Descripción del Tour
At the break of dawn, we will collect you from your Cusco hotel to transfer you to the Poroy train station via private transport. You will embark on a scenic train ride beginning your journey to Machu Picchu, a little over a 3-hour trip to the Aguas Calientes train station. Upon arrival, you will board a bus that will take you to the entrance of the breathtaking Citadel of Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu translates to “Old Mountain”, situated 80 miles northeast of Cusco city, nestled in the Peruvian Andes Mountain Range, and flanked by the River Vilcanota. Constructed by the Inca Pachacutec between 1400 and 1500 A.D., it served as the exclusive residence for Inca nobility. Machu Picchu is positioned in a subtropical zone with varied microclimates and stands at an elevation of 2,430 meters above sea level.
The guided tour will allow you to discover this magnificent archaeological site, also referred to as The Lost City of the Incas, for two hours. The area boasts a rich diversity of local flora and fauna, surrounded by various species of orchids and forested areas. Additionally, it is home to insects, mammals, and birds, including the “Gallito de las Rocas”, recognized as the national bird of Peru.
Relish your free time in Machu Picchu by capturing photos or, for the adventurous, climb Huayna Picchu mountain (optional) to gain a panoramic view of the entire citadel. Huayna Picchu means “Young Mountain” and reaches an altitude of 2,700 meters above sea level. The ascent is demanding; nevertheless, it could prove to be the most remarkable experience of your life.
Recognized as a World Heritage Site, Machu Picchu offers stunning landscapes and was a central hub for Inca agriculture and the most significant urban center of the Incan Empire. Connected by a network of paths known as Inca Trails, these routes facilitated trade throughout the Inca Empire. This site was the primary dwelling of Inca Pachacutec and his lineage. Additionally, you have the option to return to Machu Picchu town for lunch (optional).
After a full day of exploration in Machu Picchu, head back to the Aguas Calientes train station at your scheduled time to return to Cusco City. You will first arrive at the Poroy train station and then be transported privately back to your hotel.
