Descripción del Tour
Bright and early, we'll collect you from your hotel in the heart of Cusco to embark on an exciting journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first destination is the charming town of Chinchero, nestled just 17 miles from Cusco.
In Chinchero, we'll explore a local workshop where you'll witness the ancient techniques used to craft stunning textiles. If you visit on a Sunday, you'll have the chance to stroll through the vibrant Chinchero market, brimming with a diverse array of handmade crafts and clothing.
Our adventure continues with a visit to the Maras salt mines, perched on an open hillside within the Urubamba Valley. The Maras salt pans showcase an extraordinary Incan process in which a subterranean stream evaporates salty water, allowing it to surface at a spring. The water is then guided through an intricate network of tiny channels, gradually trickling down onto hundreds of ancient salt ponds. As the sun evaporates the water, salt is left behind.
Following our exploration of Maras, we'll proceed to the remarkable Moray ruins. These consist of three vast coliseums believed to have served the Incas as an open-air agricultural laboratory. Featuring several immense circular terraces, the largest reaches a depth of approximately 30 meters (98 feet). You'll be captivated by these terraces, arranged in concentric circles that evoke the design of an ancient Greek amphitheater.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas boasts extensive fertile lands ideal for cultivation, along with awe-inspiring archaeological sites. This region offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Inca Empire and its sophisticated construction methods.
As our tour concludes, we'll return to Cusco, ensuring a comfortable drop-off at your hotel.
