Descripción del Tour
Once we pick you up from your hotel, we’ll head to the South Valley of Cusco, traveling along the highway to our first destination. Our tour begins with a visit to the water temple of Tipón, situated 16 miles southeast of Cusco.
This archaeological site covers an expansive area featuring 12 impressive terraces, primarily dedicated to the cult of water. Its irrigation system is particularly remarkable, as it remains functional and continues to water crops to this day. An interesting fact is that the Inca Trail is part of this site, which spans 240 hectares and is located at an average altitude of 3,316 meters above sea level.
Our next destination is the Pikillacta ruins, a notable pre-Inca urban center and a key site for the Huari culture that thrived between the 6th and 9th centuries. Pikillaqta is situated at 3,250 meters above sea level, covering an area of 50 hectares.
We will then proceed to the town of Andahuaylillas, a traditional Andean village renowned for its remarkable chapel, often referred to as “The Sistine Chapel of America.” Built around the sixteenth century, this place is truly breathtaking, featuring a Renaissance-style exterior and a Baroque-style interior adorned with gold, murals, and canvases throughout.
After exploring the magnificent southern sacred valley, we will drop you off at El Regocijo Square, conveniently located just one block from the Plaza de Armas.
