Descripción del Tour
The Lima walking food tour kicks off with a hotel pick-up for those staying in Lima (private service) or a meeting point at the Grand Hotel Bolivar (group service) situated in Lima's historic center.
Our culinary journey begins at San Martin Square, a site declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and inaugurated in 1921. Here, you'll admire historical landmarks such as the National Club.
As we stroll along Jiron de la Union, you'll notice its rich history and vibrant commercial activity. We’ll stop at a local eatery to savor a delectable pork sandwich known as “Pan con chicharrón.” This classic street sandwich features pork, fried sweet potato, and onion sauce.
The Lima food tour continues at the Central Market, renowned for its variety of products and attractive prices. Here, we will sample fresh local Peruvian fruit and have ample time to explore.
Our next destination is the Chinese neighborhood, where the Chinese community settled in the 19th century to meet labor demands on the coast. We’ll enjoy Chinese snacks and visit its vibrant market. No visit is complete without trying “Chifa,” a beloved fusion of Peruvian-Cantonese cuisine.
Next, we’ll head to the Convent of San Francisco to admire its stunning architecture. Here, we’ll indulge in “Churros,” a sweet treat filled with dulce de leche (milk caramel). Afterward, we'll stop by one of the city’s oldest bars to savor a delicious “Causa rellena” and refresh ourselves with “Chicha morada,” a sweet beverage made from purple corn.
Renowned for its rich flavors, Peruvian cuisine is considered among the best in South America. The City of Kings offers a plethora of dining options and exceptional food tours like this one.
The tour continues through the Main Square to a bustling street lined with food carts. Here, we'll sample “Anticuchos,” skewers of marinated grilled beef hearts, and a popular dessert called “Picarones,” made from pumpkin and sweet potato, served with sugar cane syrup.
We’ll also try another Peruvian dessert, “Mazamorra Morada,” crafted from purple corn, and conclude this incredible adventure with “Emoliente,” a hot drink known for its medicinal properties and popularity among Peruvians.
As we wrap up this remarkable food tour, the group service ends at Jiron Camana, while those in private service will be transported back to their hotel.
