Tour Description

Day 1: Lima - Paracas

The day trip kicks off bright and early. We will collect you from your hotel in the city of Lima and transport you to the bus station for a 4-hour journey to the town of Paracas. Upon arrival, we'll proceed to the Pisco airport.

Here, you'll embark on an incredible 1.5-hour aerial adventure over the enigmatic Nazca Lines. During the flight, you'll witness stunning figures such as the monkey, the spider, the Condor, and various other drawings on these remarkable plains.

These fascinating geoglyphs were created by the Nazca culture, a pre-Inca civilization that thrived between 700 B.C. and 200 A.D. The drawings are visible from above, situated 280 miles south of Lima. Although first seen in 1547, it wasn't until 1929 that Peruvian archaeologist Julio C. Tello began to study them. In 1994, the Nazca Lines were designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

After the Nazca Lines tour, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Paracas for a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation.

Day 2: Paracas - Lima

The tour resumes early as we pick you up from your hotel in Paracas. We will head to El Chaco pier and board a boat for a tour of the Ballestas Islands, part of the breathtaking Paracas National Reserve. These rocky islands are situated just 30 minutes off the Peruvian coast.

Experience a diverse sea life, including sea lions and a variety of birds such as Humboldt penguins and pelicans, among other migratory species. You'll also have the chance to admire the renowned Candelabrum from the boat, a large geoglyph possibly linked to the ancient Nazca culture. The beauty of the Peruvian coast will undoubtedly captivate you.

After the visit, we will transfer you to the bus station for your return to Lima, concluding with a drop-off at your hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions

The typical itinerary for this adventure and nature excursion combines sea and desert. Depart very early from Lima (hotel or meeting point) to Paracas by tourist bus. Board a speedboat for a 2-hour cruise to the Ballestas Islands, with sightings of sea lions, guano birds, Humboldt penguins, and the Candelabro geoglyph. Transfer to the Pisco or Ica airport for the Nazca Lines flight: total flight time approximately 1 hour 30–1 hour 40 minutes, including 30–35 minutes over iconic geoglyphs (Hummingbird, Monkey, Astronaut). Return by road. Estimated duration: from Lima 14–16 hours; from Paracas/Ica 6–8 hours, weather permitting.

The tour typically includes round-trip tourist transportation (depending on the departure point), a boat trip to the Ballestas Islands with life jackets, a bilingual tour guide (Spanish/English), assistance at the port, and a certified airplane flight over the Nazca Lines with a safety briefing. It usually does not include lunch, snacks, drinks, tips, travel insurance, Paracas dock fees, airport taxes, or personal expenses. Some departures include hotel pickup and a guaranteed window seat. Please check your confirmation for details on what is covered, any high season or excess baggage fees, and the weather policy.

The price of the Nazca Lines + Ballestas Islands tour package varies depending on the season, departure point (Lima, Paracas, or Ica), availability, and local taxes. There are usually daily departures: a boat trip to the Ballestas Islands in the morning (approximately 8:00 AM) and a flight between mid-morning and early afternoon, always subject to weather and wind conditions. Book in advance to secure your fare, schedule, and seat availability on the small plane. Ask about prices for children, taxes (IGV), holiday surcharges, and discounts for cash payments. Also, check if the operator allows free rescheduling due to bad weather and if the final price includes all mandatory taxes.

Yes, the tour is conducted with authorized operators (DGAC for small planes and accredited captains for boats), safety equipment, and strict protocols. Flights are confirmed only with adequate visibility; boating uses life jackets and certified vessels. Most travelers in good health can participate. It is not recommended for pregnant women, people with serious heart conditions, or those prone to extreme vertigo. Children can join with an adult; some operators set a minimum age (e.g., 5 years old) and require a separate seat. If you are prone to motion sickness, take medication beforehand. Follow the guide's instructions and do not feed the wildlife in the Paracas National Reserve.

Bring your original passport or ID for the overflight check-in, cash for port and airport taxes, sunscreen, a hat or cap with a band, polarized sunglasses, a light windbreaker, comfortable clothing, water, and snacks. The climate is desert-like: cool mornings with a sea breeze and intense midday sun; the "paracas" winds tend to increase in the afternoon. Early morning sailing offers calmer seas and better light. On the small plane, all seats usually have a window; bring a camera with good zoom or binoculars. Arrive early, avoid heavy meals, secure your belongings during maneuvers, and check weight and baggage restrictions.
