Descripción del Tour:
We will collect you from your hotel in Cusco to commence our tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Situated 9.3 miles northeast of the city, this valley was favored by the Inca Empire for its strategic location and favorable climate, making its fertile lands ideal for agriculture.
At an elevation of 2,800 meters above sea level, the Sacred Valley boasts one of the region's best climates. It is home to a diverse flora and fauna, featuring wildflowers and wildlife such as the vizcacha, puma, and skunk, among others.
Our journey will take us 20.5 miles to the charming town of Pisac. This remarkable location is renowned for its vibrant craft market and impressive Inca sites, complete with stone structures and breathtaking views of the valley, including the stunning Inca terraces.
Following our exploration of the Pisac market, we will proceed to the town of Urubamba to savor traditional Peruvian cuisine at a local riverside restaurant. This buffet lunch showcases regional dishes, offering delicacies such as alpaca and trout.
Subsequently, we will arrive at the town of Ollantaytambo, located at 2,792 meters above sea level. The Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo served as a military, religious, and agricultural hub for the Incas. The site features spectacular views and over a hundred terraces, alongside an advanced irrigation system from that era.
Ascend the numerous steps to reach the top of the Fortress, where you will visit key areas like the ceremonial center of Temple Hill. Here, we will explore various locations, including the wall of the six monoliths, also known as the Temple of the Sun.
Our final destination is the town of Chinchero, with its vibrant and colorful Inca market, rich in traditional crafts such as ceramics and Andean textiles.
According to the Sacred Valley tribe, the Milky Way and its constellations were mirrored in the Urubamba River. Pachacutec, the ninth Inca emperor, initiated the expansion of the Inca Empire, known as Tahuantinsuyo. His notable contributions include the Fortress of Ollantaytambo, Sacsayhuamán, Coricancha, and the commencement of Machu Picchu's construction during his reign.
