Descripción del Tour:
We will collect you from your hotel in Cusco early in the morning and head towards the town of Mollepata, located in the Anta province, 55 miles from the city. Here, we'll enjoy a hearty breakfast before continuing our journey to Soraypampa (3,920 masl), the starting point of our trek.
Upon arrival, we'll have a brief orientation before commencing our trek. The path begins with an upward climb, and after approximately 1.5 hours of hiking, we'll be surrounded by majestic mountains and have the chance to observe the local fauna and fascinating wildlife, including horses, sheep, Andean foxes, and vizcachas, among others.
We will then arrive at the highest point, situated at 4,200 meters above sea level, where we can enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Humantay. This stunning tourist spot is part of the Salkantay trek, an alternate route to the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
The Humantay Lake tour will captivate you with its pristine waters, dramatic landscapes, and the remarkable blend of mountains and glaciers. The lake is fed by the meltwater from the snow-capped peaks of Humantay and Salkantay.
After taking in this spectacular site, we will return to our starting point for a well-deserved Andean lunch.

This period is ideal for hikers, as weather conditions are more predictable and safe. However, it's crucial to plan ahead, as it's peak tourist season in Cusco, and tours often fill up quickly.
For the trek to Humantay Lagoon, it's essential to wear comfortable, hiking-appropriate clothing, including a windproof or waterproof jacket. Don't forget sturdy footwear for uneven terrain. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the high-altitude sun. Bring plenty of water and energy-boosting snacks to stay hydrated and energized throughout the hike. A camera or smartphone is also recommended to capture the stunning views of the Andean landscape.
Humantay Lagoon is located at an altitude of approximately 4,200 meters above sea level. This altitude can affect visitors unaccustomed to high altitudes, causing altitude sickness, which manifests itself in symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. It is advisable to acclimatize properly in Cusco before trekking. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and walk at a leisurely pace. Bringing coca leaves to chew or consume in tea can help mitigate the effects of altitude sickness.
The trek to Humantay Lagoon is considered intermediate level. It is approximately 7 kilometers round trip from the starting point. The trail includes steep sections and high altitude conditions that may increase the difficulty for those without previous hiking experience. It is recommended to be in good physical condition and prepared for endurance challenges. Listen to the tour guides, who are knowledgeable about the route, and take breaks to make the journey more bearable and safe.
The Humantay Lagoon excursion generally includes round-trip transportation from Cusco, breakfast and lunch, a professional bilingual guide, and sometimes basic trekking equipment.
