Descripción del Tour:
We will collect you from your hotel to begin an enlightening half-day tour starting at the Temple of Coricancha, also known as the Golden Temple due to its once abundant gold. This iconic site perfectly illustrates the blend of Incan and Hispanic cultures. During the Spanish conquest, the temple's foundations were used to construct the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo.
Next, we'll explore the Cusco Cathedral located in the Plaza de Armas, where you can admire the stunning religious artworks of the Cusco School. The cathedral stands as both a World Cultural Heritage site and a declared Historic Monument of Peru.
The magnificence of the main square will leave you in awe. Encircled by shops and grand churches, this area was once a lagoon, drained during the Inca period for significant ceremonies. Today, it serves as the principal tourist meeting point in Cusco.
The journey proceeds to the archaeological wonder of Sacsayhuaman, featuring massive stone walls that seamlessly fit together. Legend has it that over 20,000 men spent more than 70 years constructing this site. Situated just 2 km from Cusco, this Incan Fortress offers breathtaking vistas and is home to llamas and hawks.
Afterwards, we'll visit the religious site of Qenqo, a place where the Incas honored deities like the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth. Here, you will enjoy an incredible experience exploring its underground passageways and observing a semicircular amphitheater.
Our engaging excursion continues to the military site of Puca Pucara, meaning “Red Fortress” due to its reddish hue. We will then proceed to Tambomachay, a water worship center with aqueducts and waterfalls fed by nearby springs. The advanced construction skills of the Inca civilization are truly impressive.
At the conclusion of the tour, we will drop you off at Plaza El Regocijo, just a block from Plaza de Armas.
