Descripción del Tour:
Once we pick you up from your hotel in Lima, we will embark on a city tour beginning at the remarkable Larco Museum, nestled in the charming neighborhood of Pueblo Libre. Founded in 1926 by the Peruvian archaeologist Rafael Larco Hoyle, this museum is housed in a stunning mansion surrounded by exquisite gardens dating back to the eighteenth century.
The Larco Museum boasts an extensive collection of over 5000 pre-Columbian art pieces crafted in gold and silver, alongside ceramics and erotic art. Our tour will take us through impressive galleries, allowing us to explore the fascinating history of ancient Peruvian civilizations.
The journey continues in the historic center of Lima, a site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. This area is rich with stunning squares, colonial mansions, and a wealth of history. We will visit the Casa de Aliaga, a colonial residence built in 1536, teeming with priceless art and history. Remarkably, this architectural gem is still inhabited by descendants of the Jeronimo de Aliaga y Ramirez family, a Spanish conquistador and ally of Francisco Pizarro.
Our tour will take us to the Plaza de Armas, the founding site of Lima in 1535 and the official declaration of Peru's Independence in 1821. During the viceregal period, this square served as both a marketplace and a location for public executions.
We will have the chance to admire historical landmarks such as the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Municipal Palace, and other significant colonial-era buildings. Our visit will include the Cathedral of Lima, a site designated as a Cultural Heritage Site, constructed in the sixteenth century by Spanish conquerors.
After exploring these historical treasures, you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel.
