Tour Description

Early in the morning, we'll collect you from your hotel or bus station in the city of Ica to embark on this incredible adventure, the Canyon of the Lost tour, situated south of the Santiago district.

Our journey begins with a 2-hour drive along the south Panamerican Highway leading us to the district of Ocucaje. Before venturing into the Ocucaje desert, we'll pause briefly to allow you to purchase fresh food, fruits, and beverages if you wish.

En route to the canyon, we'll stop at the Pampa de Piedras, providing a perfect opportunity for some fun photography. Continuing our journey, we'll reach the viewpoint of the Canyon of the Lost.

This natural marvel, discovered in 2011, stretches over 2 kilometers and plunges to a depth of 150 meters. The canyon is sculpted by the erosion of the Seco River, which merges with the Ica River before flowing into the Pacific Ocean. Among the fauna we might spot are birds like vultures and crows.

Our hike begins on a sandy trail, allowing us to admire marine fossils such as those of whales and sharks. Research suggests this area was once the ocean floor, dating back 20 to 30 million years.

We'll explore the various levels of this naturally hewn rock formation, which features intricate figures on the walls and small lagoons along the path. You'll have the chance to see the face of the Puma, a natural formation that resembles a feline visage. Below this image is a stagnant water pool known as the Eye of the Fish.

Additional attractions include the Plaza Caracol and the stunning oasis created by the convergence with the Ica River.

After relishing this extraordinary experience for two hours, we'll exit the canyon and commence our return to the city of Ica. Upon arrival, we'll drop you off at your hotel or bus station.
