Descripción del Tour
We will embark on our exhilarating adventure from the stunning Plaza Regocijo, located just steps away from the impressive Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Once we gather, we'll hop onto a comfortable tourist transport that will whisk us away to the quaint village of Cruspata. This scenic road trip will take approximately 50 minutes, bringing us to the base where our incredible ATVs await.
Our knowledgeable professional guide will provide a detailed briefing on the route you’ve chosen, giving you time to get acquainted with the ATVs. After a 30-minute training session, we’ll board the transport once more to head to your selected destination: Huapo Lagoon or Moray.
The first route leads us to the breathtaking Huaypo Lagoon, nestled in the Eqqeco district close to the charming village of Chinchero, at an elevation of 3,500 meters above sea level. For about 2 hours, you’ll explore the enchanting surroundings of this 1-kilometer-long lagoon while uncovering the legends that envelop it.
In addition, you’ll be captivated by the stunning vistas of the majestic mountain ranges that encircle it, including Salkantay, Verónica, and Chicón. This site offers a variety of activities, such as fishing and water sports.
The second route available is towards the Moray ruins. Enjoy a thrilling 2-hour ATV ride through this area, followed by a 20-minute walking tour of the Inca ruins. The Moray archaeological site is situated 7 kilometers from Maras. Picture the Moray coliseums, consisting of three vast circular terraces, each narrating its own story. The largest coliseum, with an astonishing depth of around 30 meters (98 feet), is a sight to behold.
Admire the agricultural terraces arranged in concentric circles, reminiscent of an ancient Greek theater. It’s no surprise that the name Moray is linked to corn cultivation, known as "Aymoray" in Quechua. Delve into the history of this site as you learn about its role as an agricultural laboratory.
Be impressed by the sophisticated irrigation system developed in Moray, which surpassed the expectations of its era. This visit not only connects you with nature and history but also expands your understanding of Inca agricultural innovations.
After exploring Huaypo Lagoon or Moray, we will return to the base to leave the ATVs and take the transport to the renowned Maras Salt Mines.
Located just 40 kilometers northwest of the magnificent city of Cusco, in the Urubamba province, you’ll discover the remarkable natural salt pools known as Maras, dating back to the Inca period. At an altitude of 3,300 meters above sea level, these pools are a genuine marvel of Inca engineering and craftsmanship.
You will be fascinated by how saltwater flows beneath the pools and evaporates, leaving behind salt crystals that form over 3,000 natural pools. Additionally, the views from this site are simply stunning, as it is perched on an open hill, creating a unique and breathtaking landscape.
The picturesque town of Maras is devoted to the production and commercialization of salt extracted from Maras, alongside its agricultural and livestock traditions. After exploring this charming locality, we will commence our thrilling ATV tour of Maras. We offer two captivating routes, and you can choose the one that appeals to you most when making your reservation.
At the end of this enjoyable experience, we will return to the city of Cusco to drop you off at the excursion's final point, at Plaza El Regocijo.
